For the second consecutive year, Union Bank, through its educational platform Edu360, has partnered with the largest game company Kucheza, to organize another exciting edition of the Mobo Game Jam.
Mobo Game Jam is an annual game development competition designed to encourage inclusivity, sustainability and humanity among young innovators in Nigeria and the UK aged 8-18. The aim of the competition is to promote gaming as a tool to harness the power of young people’s creativity and imagination while bridging the digital skills gap within our education system.
Each year, participants are tasked with creating games that combine creativity, compassion, and computational thinking to solve pressing global problems. Last year’s edition titled “Future on Tap” received more than 1,000 submissions of game prototypes exploring how to achieve a future where everyone has access to clean water. This year, in response to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 on climate action, the focus is on clean air, with the theme Carbon Neutrality and clean air. Participants will be encouraged to imagine a world where we can have a reduced carbon footprint.
The competition is open to individuals and teams who meet the age requirements and who are innovative and passionate about games. They are invited to submit their entries which could be a game or game concept that tackles the global problem of carbon emissions. The deadline for submission is February 25, 2022.
To promote a cross-cultural exchange of ideas and help improve their digital skills, participants have access to free weekly masterclasses and tutorial sessions led by industry experts. Winners will be rewarded with cash prizes and laptops for individuals and computer labs for winning schools. There will also be a live showcase for the best entries.
